I had a great time at the Dickens in London event at the BFI last night. I was lucky to get a ticket to see see the 200th Birthday celebrations! It was a part of the huge worldwide programme of Dickens-related events taking place this year, in conjunction with the British Council.
I saw John Akomfrah's film The Nine Muses last night at the ICA. It's been a while since I've made a trip to the ICA, I forget what an amazing and exciting institution it is. I've never seen a film like The Nine Muses before, but found it really captivating. It's a non-narrative meditation on migration and travel, told through beautiful snowy images, and ecclectic but excellently chosen poetry extracts.
